Spider Web Buffalo Chicken Dip - featured image

This Spider Web Buffalo Chicken Dip is a creamy, spicy, and cheesy game day favorite that looks impressive but comes together in under 30 minutes. The sour cream spider web pattern and olive spider legs make it a showstopper for parties.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup buffalo wing sauce (like Frank’s RedHot)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cups cooked, shredded chicken (rotisserie or leftover)
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese, divided
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup sour cream (for spider web decoration)
  • 8–10 black olives, sliced (for spider legs)
  • Tortilla chips, celery sticks, carrot sticks, or crackers (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Soften cream cheese if needed.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, 1/2 cup sour cream, buffalo wing sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper. Stir until smooth.
  3. Fold in shredded chicken, 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese, and mozzarella cheese until evenly distributed.
  4. Transfer mixture to an oven-safe skillet or 9-inch baking dish and spread evenly.
  5. Sprinkle remaining 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese over the top.
  6. Bake for 18-22 minutes, until hot and bubbly around the edges. Optionally broil 1-2 minutes for extra browning.
  7. While dip bakes, prepare spider web decoration: spoon 1/4 cup sour cream into a piping bag or zip-top bag with a tiny corner snipped off.
  8. Let dip cool 2-3 minutes, then pipe a spiral of sour cream from center outward. Use a toothpick to drag lines from center to edge, creating a web pattern.
  9. Arrange sliced black olives around the edge of the dip to resemble spider legs.
  10. Serve immediately with tortilla chips, celery sticks, or crackers.

Notes

For a milder version, use only 1/4 cup buffalo sauce and add extra sour cream. For extra heat, add cayenne pepper or use hotter wing sauce. To prep ahead, assemble dip (without sour cream web and olives) up to 24 hours in advance; bake straight from fridge, adding 5-7 minutes. The spider web pattern should be added just before serving to prevent melting.
