This quick caramel apple sangria with cinnamon sticks is everything you want in a fall drink—easy, flavorful, and just a little bit special. It’s the kind of recipe that makes you look like you put in way more effort than you actually did, perfect for weeknights or gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 bottle (750 ml) dry white wine (Pinot Grigio or Sauvignon Blanc, chilled)
  • 2 medium apples, thinly sliced (Honeycrisp or Fuji)
  • 3 cinnamon sticks (whole)
  • 1/4 cup caramel sauce (store-bought, warmed slightly)
  • 1/2 cup apple cider (unsweetened or lightly sweetened)
  • 1/4 cup brandy or bourbon (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 to 2 cups sparkling water or ginger ale (add just before serving)
  • Ice cubes (optional, for serving)
  • Apple slices and extra cinnamon sticks for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prep the apples: Wash and core your apples. Slice them into thin rounds or half-moons, about 1/4-inch thick. Toss them in a small bowl with the lemon juice to prevent browning. Set aside.
  2. Warm the caramel: If your caramel sauce is thick, microwave it in a small bowl for 10 to 15 seconds until it’s pourable. Don’t overheat it.
  3. Combine the base ingredients: In your large pitcher, pour the entire bottle of white wine. Add the apple cider, brandy (if using), and the warmed caramel sauce. Stir gently with your wooden spoon until the caramel is fully incorporated.
  4. Add the apples and cinnamon: Drop in the apple slices and cinnamon sticks. Give everything another gentle stir.
  5. Chill: Cover the pitcher with plastic wrap or a lid and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, but 2 hours is better for flavor melding.
  6. Add the fizz: Just before serving, pour in the sparkling water or ginger ale. Stir gently to combine.
  7. Serve and garnish: Fill glasses with ice (if using). Pour the sangria, making sure each glass gets some apple slices and a cinnamon stick. Add a fresh apple slice to the rim for garnish.

Notes

For best results, use firm apples like Honeycrisp that hold their shape. Warm the caramel slightly before adding to prevent clumping. Use whole cinnamon sticks, not ground, to avoid cloudiness. The sangria improves after 2-3 hours of chilling. Add sparkling water just before serving to retain fizz. Leftovers keep up to 24 hours in the refrigerator.
