These festive peppermint chocolate Jello shots are completely kid-friendly—no alcohol, just pure holiday fun in a tiny cup. They’re quick, easy, budget-friendly, and absolutely adorable, perfect for classroom parties, family gatherings, or a cozy night in.

  • 1 box (3 oz) chocolate Jell-O pudding mix (cook-and-serve)
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup cold water
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream or whole milk
  • 1/2 cup crushed candy canes (about 4–5 regular-sized)
  • 1/4 cup mini marshmallows (optional)
  • Whipped cream for topping
  • Extra crushed candy canes for garnish

Instructions

  1. Crush the candy canes first: Put 4-5 candy canes in a Ziploc bag and seal it. Crush with a rolling pin or heavy pan to get a mix of fine pieces and small chunks. Set aside about 2 tablespoons for garnish.
  2. In a small saucepan, bring 1 cup of water to a rolling boil.
  3. Pour the chocolate Jell-O pudding mix into the boiling water. Whisk constantly for about 2 minutes until completely dissolved and smooth.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in 1 cup of cold water and 1/2 cup of heavy cream. Whisk until combined.
  5. Stir in the crushed candy canes (minus reserved garnish) and mini marshmallows if using. Stir gently to distribute evenly.
  6. Arrange shot cups on a baking sheet. Carefully pour the Jell-O mixture into each cup, filling them about 3/4 full.
  7. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight for best results.
  8. Once set, add a dollop of whipped cream to each cup. Sprinkle reserved crushed candy canes on top.
  9. Serve immediately or refrigerate. If making ahead, leave whipped cream off until just before serving.

Notes

Use cook-and-serve chocolate Jell-O pudding mix, not instant. Boil the water fully for best results. Let Jell-O set completely before adding whipped cream. These are best served within a few hours of adding whipped cream. Do not freeze.
