A quick and easy Halloween punch featuring creamy orange sherbet, fizzy ginger ale, and adorable carved orange ‘monster’ faces. Perfect for parties, this kid-friendly drink comes together in minutes and looks impressively spooky.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 liter ginger ale or lemon-lime soda (chilled)
  • 2 cups orange juice (chilled)
  • 1 cup pineapple juice (chilled)
  • 1/2 cup cranberry juice (chilled)
  • 1 quart orange sherbet
  • 4–6 small oranges
  • Whole cloves or black sesame seeds (for monster face details)
  • Gummy worms or gummy spiders (optional garnish)
  • Dry ice (food-grade, optional, handled safely)
  • Fresh mint leaves (optional garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the orange monster faces: Wash and dry oranges. Cut a small slice off the bottom of each so it sits flat. Carve small triangle eyes and a jagged mouth into the peel, removing only the outer peel. Stick two whole cloves or a few black sesame seeds into the eye holes for pupils. Set aside.
  2. Chill all liquids (ginger ale, orange juice, pineapple juice, cranberry juice) and the punch bowl for at least 1 hour before serving.
  3. Just before serving, pour the chilled ginger ale into the punch bowl. Gently add orange juice, pineapple juice, and cranberry juice. Stir very gently to preserve carbonation.
  4. Scoop orange sherbet into small balls or rustic chunks using a melon baller or spoon. Drop them gently into the punch without stirring.
  5. Gently place the carved orange faces into the punch, carved side up, arranging them so they are visible from different angles.
  6. Add optional garnishes (gummy worms, mint leaves) and dry ice if using, following safety guidelines. Serve immediately in clear cups, ladling carefully to include an orange face in each cup if possible.

Notes

Assemble punch right before serving to keep sherbet from melting and soda from going flat. For dry ice, use food-grade only, handle with tongs and thick gloves, and add just before serving; ensure it fully dissolves before anyone drinks. For a glow effect, carve out more orange flesh and insert a small waterproof LED tea light into each orange face. If using dry ice, also have tongs and heat-resistant gloves.
