A nostalgic Halloween pizza topped with mozzarella ghosts, pepperoni jack-o’-lantern faces, and olive spiders. Quick to assemble and baked in under 30 minutes, it’s the perfect spooky centerpiece for any Halloween gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound store-bought or homemade pizza dough
  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce
  • 2 cups shredded low-moisture mozzarella cheese
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 8 ounces fresh mozzarella cheese (log or ball form)
  • Ghost-shaped cookie cutter (about 2 inches wide)
  • 1/4 cup pepperoni slices (about 12–15 slices)
  • 1/4 cup black olives, sliced
  • Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven while it preheats.
  2. Make the mozzarella ghosts: Unwrap fresh mozzarella and pat dry. Slice into 1/4-inch thick rounds. Press ghost cookie cutter firmly into each slice to get about 8-10 ghosts. Place on a paper towel-lined plate to absorb excess moisture.
  3. Cut the pepperoni jack-o’-lantern faces: Take 6-8 pepperoni slices and use a small knife to cut out tiny triangle eyes and a jagged mouth.
  4. Prepare the olive spiders: Slice black olives into rounds. For each spider, take one slice and cut it in half for the body, then use two smaller slivers for legs. Make about 6-8 spiders.
  5. Roll out the pizza dough on a lightly floured surface into a 12-inch circle, about 1/4-inch thick. Transfer to a sheet of parchment paper. Brush edges with olive oil.
  6. Assemble the pizza: Spread pizza sauce evenly over dough, leaving a 1-inch border. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella over sauce. Arrange mozzarella ghosts on top, then place pepperoni jack-o’-lantern faces near ghosts. Scatter remaining pepperoni slices and olive spiders around the pizza.
  7. Bake: Carefully slide parchment with pizza onto preheated baking sheet or pizza stone. Bake for 10-12 minutes, until crust is golden brown and cheese is bubbly. Ghosts should be slightly melted but still holding shape.
  8. Let rest and garnish: Remove from oven and cool on a wire rack for 5 minutes. Garnish with fresh basil if desired. Slice and serve warm.

Notes

Pat mozzarella ghosts dry to prevent sogginess. Use low-moisture mozzarella as base layer for best melt. Preheat baking surface for crispy crust. Watch baking time closely—ghosts can lose shape quickly. Let pizza rest 5 minutes before cutting. Can assemble up to 2 hours ahead and refrigerate before baking.
