A perfectly balanced iced espresso with deep caramel-like richness from brown sugar and creamy oat milk. Quick, simple, and better than any coffee shop version.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 shots of espresso (about 2 ounces or 60 ml)
  • 2 tablespoons (30 g) brown sugar, packed
  • 1 cup (240 ml) oat milk, cold
  • Ice cubes
  • A pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg (optional)
  • ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
  • A splash of heavy cream or coconut cream (optional)

Instructions

  1. Brew 2 shots of espresso (about 2 ounces or 60 ml total) into a small heatproof glass or mug. The espresso should be steaming hot.
  2. Immediately add 2 tablespoons (30 g) of packed brown sugar to the hot espresso. Stir vigorously with a spoon or chopstick until the sugar is completely dissolved. The mixture should turn a deep, glossy amber color.
  3. Fill a tall glass completely with ice cubes. Use large, dense cubes if possible.
  4. Slowly pour the sweetened espresso over the ice.
  5. Pour 1 cup (240 ml) of cold oat milk over the espresso and ice. Pour gently down the side of the glass to create layers, or stir if desired.
  6. If using, sprinkle a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg on top. Serve immediately.

Notes

For best results, use barista-style oat milk to prevent separation. Ensure espresso is hot enough to fully dissolve the brown sugar. The sweetened espresso mixture can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days.
